Rome, the seat of an empire - complete with all of the assassination attempts and intrigue that belongs there - The younger, favored son of the Emperor, was to marry his daughter Asira, and his wife Cassia plotted with that son the demise of the Emperor.
The night before the birthday of Emperor Nero's son Deodatus and the start of the gladiatorial games to commemorate the event. A warrior from the deserts to the west, Draai, made it to the hall and spoke to her about another assassination attempt. A great dinner is held for all the gladiators; slaves that the fine food was more likely than not wasted on. Just before the food was served, a giant of an undefeated warrior called Batair walked up to the royal family and pledged his victory in the morning to Nero, a faint glimpse of freedom in his mind. He then sat down and another man entered with something of a commotion. The legendary warrior Altair deigned to take part in the games and took his seat at the great table where he dined like a noble and sized up the competition. Among the maids was an Egyptian called Meskhenet, secretly an assassin in the protection of the princess.
