Spin-Strikes:
A military robot developed by Astrox in its early days as a method of providing securities to factories in 'dangerous locations'. Extremely expensive and well armoured, Spin-Strikes represented a considerable investment. The idea was to create something which could not be bested, whatever the future may hold. Of course, such dreams are short lived, the antiquated systems of the Spin-Strikes soon left them slow, while their weapons lacked in any real stopping power to deal with the ever stronger threats the Astrox company faced.
Yet there was something more to every Spin-Strike than even the Chief could foresee. Despite being obsolete, massively outnumbered and outgunned, they were tenacious little bastards, and would often walk away battered, damaged, but victorious. Rather than destroy them, the Chief deigned that they should be brought up to speed, without removing the brutal simplicity that was the Spin-Strike A.I.
Only one Spin-Strike survived the change from mindless automata to self aware warrior robot, and its name was Kelroth. Fearing that this powerful weapon may suddenly decide that it didn't like fighting, or that it didn't like the Astrox company itself, many additional commands were layered across its programming to keep it safely under control. However, things did not go to plan.
Capable of its making its own descisions, yet bound to a simple code of conduct, which it believed all were bound to, when a female human wormed her way into his code, and Kelroth knew that he would protect her whatever should come his way, the raw logic of his mind began to degrade. For he felt emotion. Not mimicing emotions in the way an A.I. script does to make itself seem human. Kelroth felt real, human, emotion.
When the girl died after a plea for aid was refused, Kelroths mind was destroyed. He swore to Aux that he would avenge her death, and that when he had done so she would let him die.
Kelroth has been 'destroyed' several times in combat, and should have theoretically ceased to operate over 50 years ago, simply due to the strain on his CPU, yet something keeps him going. Built of scavanged parts, risky self repairs on his own circuitry, and earlier bodged attempts to shut out the pain he was feeling, Kelroth is incredibly hard to damage. There is almost always a back up system somewhere else in his body waiting to kick in. Even destruction of his core system failed to put him out of his misery, reappearing 10 months after he was destroyed by Nehroid. While his body is frequently repaired, to an extent, his mind has never shown any signs of recovery. Documented cases of him using non-aware Spin-Strike core systems to momentarily restore his sanity have been heard, yet not confirmed.
Kelroth Weaponary:
Right Arm: Spin-Strike Missile Launcher
A weapon unique to the Spin-Strike models. Utilizing 'drunken' missiles, the Spin-Strike missile launcher was designed to throw as many missiles out as possible to saturate an area with hundreds of low power explosions per salvo. Spread of missiles increases with range. Not a true danger to more heavily armoured opponents, this weapon was designed for control of large swarms of soft targets, such as rioters and soldiers, and also to encourage enemies in cover to move.
Left Arm: Fierce Left Jab
Good old fashioned know-how with the subtleness of a pneumatic sledgehammer, which is essentially what this is. Original Spin-Strikes possessed an extremely heavily armoured left fist, both for defensive and offensive purposes. Kelroth made his even more dangerous by adding pneumatic rams to his muscles. Slow to fire, but capable of punching a hole in even ultra-heavy titanium alloy, this is a feature that many have underestimated, and very few have survived. Though similar in size, his right arm and fist are not as heavily armoured as the left.
Right Torso: Spin-Strike Missile assembler and matter converter
Spin-Strike missile launchers consume vast amounts of ammunition. It would be extremely difficult to store many of them in a single location, thus all Spin-Strikes carried an assembler and matter converter within them. Kelroths went none-functional for a time due to the errors in his system, yet now it seems to be functioning (although slowly), implying he has found a way to isolate it from his main program.
Centeral Torso: Reactor, General Status Indicator (GSI), Core processing Units.
Left Torso: Storage Space
Back: Interface Wires
Originally thought to be unique to Nehroid//Global machines, Kelroth has clearly owned his for considerably longer. Almost indestructable, save for the small buds at the end, these are designed to allow Kelroth to merge with other machines. While it may have once been possible for him to send commands to, or even take over entirely, another machine, his damaged program now only permits him to cause other machines to malfunction and crash.
Head: Optical and Vocal Units
