Skye continued forward once more, she was still a bit shocked but she managed a reply to Gromnds mind, they want the stone, there was a lapse for a few moments until Skye continued, if they get their hands on it, it will be everyones doom.

Harfang had no clue where they were going. He looked ahead at the pass in the mountains, and while he figured he had probably been here at some point in time, he couldn't remember much of anything past that pass. Maybe it was someplace evil...someplace where Skye would attempt to trap them, and steal their souls. Or something. Harfang wasn't sure, but he was sure as hell that nobody was going to steal his soul! The gods be damned, he wouldn't stand for that!
The Gryphon was fuming inside, even though his exterior did not show it. The whole idea that Skye was evil, and the stone even more so, was fully embraced in his head. He was definitely not a smart Gryphon, but he thought he was doing the right thing, when he planned on stealing the stone. He just hoped he could pull it off without awakening Gromnd's rage. That creature was intensely dangerous, and Harfang had nothing that could fight him, besides his acid. So he would wait until night time, when Skye was asleep, and see if the creature would also fall asleep as well. Then, a quick theft, and he would be off into the sky, far away from anyone but Nuri. At least, that's what he hoped for. Until then, he would follow the others, stay with them, never leave their side. Especially Skye.
"Whither do we go, Lady Skye? I do not know of this place to which we so unerringly steer." He asked in a perfectly regular voice, not betraying his thoughts at all.

Skye looked to Harfang, "We're heading far from the city and Blood Plains, the demons know our location and so we've got to get as far away, as possible."

"The demons are after your head, m'lady...?" questioned a man nearby. He had, apparently, been traversing the trecherous steeps, though how he had remained unnoticed by the group until now was suspicious in itself. The straw hat he held with a hand over his face, concealed his features, but one could not feel malicious intent from him... "...If I heard you right, if you value your life, you will listen to what I have to say..."

Skye stopped and slowly turned towards the man, she was interesting in his words and so she nodded in his direction, "Aye? So what have you got to say...?" She waited patiently for his answer.

"Wise choice, m'lady," the man nodded. "Straight to the point," the man gestured to the peaks, "The demons known as the Quarter Knights have occupied this pass. However, you would not know it because they are keeping things tight." The man hung his head. "Sad, is it not? They have possessed the men... and the envoys of Light sent to investigate the rumor of demons sighted..." He sighed. "But I need not keep you with my words." The man adjusted his hat. "Tread lightly, m'lady... though I do hope you travel around this mountain..."

Skye nodded, she already had a plan formed, however there was just one more thing... "Why do you help us dear sir?"

"Innocents need not be tortured by the hands of demons, m'lady. The blood shall not spill if I can stop it." The man bowed humbly. "Farewell, m'lady. To you and to your friends." He nodded and walked away, seemingly dissapearing...

Nuri had watched the exchange silently for a time then when the strasnger dissapeared she looked skyward. "Nuri Cursed-one shall verify if vile demons do hold pass against Hapless Skye." With that she jumped inot the air beating her wings down once ot lift her her human form vannishing in blakc feathers as she took on her phoenix form once more sailing high in the the air until she was little more then a spec. Nuri sailed over the air letting the winds carry her towards the pass. Her sharp eyes focused on the ground below and hten the pass. Men were moving about on routine patrols but often one would look about and pause making an odd gesture to another who replied in the same manner. Watchnig those two she saw them move out of sight of the other guards and peel of thier human disguises. So high up they wouldn't notice her but she noticed them. The aire had a bloody tain to it even so high up as hot air form the pass rose in an updraft and with the smell of blood there was steel and the scent of burnt flesh. On silent wings Nuri returned ot the others circaling them several times beforte landing retaining her phoenix form. Turning her head slightly Nuri fixed Skye with one cobalt-blue eye. "De,ons hold pass against all passers. Mayhap a plan of appraoch would better help those of our company to pass undetected. for thier numbers are ten by ten by ten. Many times our company and I fear there is more there then just the simple demons..." "Maddness doest dwell amoung demons, while demons are by far simpler, Zealots driven to insanity in attack make hard pressed to evade..." Nuri ruffled her feathers and immited a high pitched lit before preening the feathers of her wings.

Harfang shook his beaked head. Time to play a part.
"Melikes this not, Mistress Skye. The man with whom thou speakest may be right, but what can we do against a horde so very large? Even myself, a great warrior and mighty battler, cannot attempt to take on so many. Mayhaps we should turn back? There is no way to go on now, for even if I could carry thou in the aether, none could carry the mighty Gromnd. Wise men do say that prudence is the better part of valor."
He did not want to meet these demons in battle. Not that he was afraid! No no, never that. It was just....he feared...for the others' safety. Of course. They, even Gromnd, couldn't stand up to that many demons. With that much magic arrayed against them, there was no way they could destroy so many and remain unscathed. There had to be a better way. A way that didn't involved getting killed....

"We shall go around," Skye paused and looked to Nuri, "perhaps if we make a duplicate of ourselves, we can create a diversion by sending the cupilcates into the pass while we head around..." she rubbed the back of her neck as she thought, "unless anyone has any better ideas? We don't want them to follow us, and I prefer not to meet them in battle, not if all our lives are in danger."

Harfang spoke up again, his voice loud, as usual.
"I know not what powers Nuri Cursed-One possesses, nor thyself, Milady. However, I may be able to keep them distracted with mine magic. The spells art powerful at a distance, and I need not be in danger to use them. Should I fly up and see what I can do? It would be against my code of honor, to send ladies such as thou or Nuri Cursed-One into danger without first placing myself in dire peril. I will not have thou hurt, either one."
He knew his water whips and his wind blades could tear an enemy apart, but if the demons got wind of the plan, they would find him and use their own magic against him. And that would lead to messy results. However, he was a Gryphon, and he would put himself in the front line, before these ladies would risk their lives. Plus, he could fly, probably faster than Nuri.

Nuri shook her avial head. "Nuri Cursed-one is no lady Nobel Gryphon and sometimes..." she shook her head. "Sometimes Nuri Cursed-one is not Phoenix..." she looked towards the pass again. "Nuri Cursed-one posseses the mastery of Fire and air, however... Killing weather it be demon or man is not something I am happy about. Killing does mar the soul even if it is necissary..." she spread her wings and took flight circaling above the group while she waited for thier decision.

"I don't want either of you to attack," Skye became really concerned, "you are confident you can create a diversion, howevere I don't want the risk of either of you being hurt." She sighed in frusteration, if no one went, the demons would get suspicious and scout for all of them. They had to do something...
