Before the man could mount a reply, all hell broke loose. Not one, but two Chaos Wolves attacked the pass. War and Madness leapt in side by side, those under their spell following their lead. Within moments, the party was surrounded by men and women alike threatening to take the stone. "Give it to us, and you may yet live, foolish mortal!" The Wolves howled, and the ground seemed to shake beneath them. Just before the attack, however, a man appeared, dressed in black appeared. "Begone! You have no place here!" In a blast of white light for each Wolf, they were gone, and their followers regained themselves. The man sighed and turned to the group, "Well... That was a close one. Ordos Anima is the name, friends. Are you all fairing well?"

Skye's eyes widened at the sudden attack and from an expression of shock it took on a new look of anger, though as quick as it all started, a new figure appeared, ending the threat entirely. Standing up straighter from her offesnive position she nodded, "thank you kind sir, we could be faring better; thanks to the demons..." She shook her head, "They've been trailin' us for some time, already attacked us in the city." she crossed her arms and suddenly an idea to mind. "We're not going to be able to fully escape the demons if we flee now... however we could have a chance if I fight..." Skye looked over to the pass, "It's me their after, if i'm the one who walks up there alone, all eyes will be on me, and everyone could flee from there..." Skye looked to Ordos, "Thank you again, Ordos, your kindness is greatly appreciated."

The attack was fast. Too fast for Harfang to react. He would have boldly leapt into battle and given his life for his companions....if he had been given a chance. But hells, there wasn't even a chance! They had just...come and gone. How embarrassing! The Gryphon was honestly embarrassed. He had rarely, if ever, had a chance to protect the group. Not that he wanted to protect Skye...he could care less whether she lived or died, the evil being. He wanted her stone, and he would get it, if he had to pry it from her evil, dead fingers. But Nuri and Gromnd, while both seemingly capable, still would need his protection. And to be seen in front of others as anything but amazingly brave and noble was a complete embarrassment. What would another Gryphon say, if they saw him so shamed?
And so, with shame in his heart, he heard Skye speak. And he knew that he could not let her go there alone. Not only would it be even more shameful, to allow a lady to go into harm's way, even if she was an evil lady, it was just not right. He could not bear the embarrassment any longer. He spoke up, and even took a step forward, brushing Skye back with his wing.
"Milady Skye, I cannot allow thou to do this. It is far too dangerous, and I wouldst not be a noble Gryphon if I let a lady such as thyself enter battle with demons. And so, therefore, I must go into battle mineself. Farewell, friends, and be safe. If I shall not return, then know I died bravely."
He did not really want to go into battle, because that would leave his noble cause of stealing the stone dead in the dust. But he could not do otherwise. It would be against his code of honor. And if a Gryphon lived at all, it was with honor in his heart. And so, with that, Harfang flapped his wings, and took off.
He did not fly high, for fear of being spotted. Instead, he swooped low through the trees, making his way slightly to the left of the pass, until he reached higher ground. There, he could see most of the men and demons dressed as men who gathered in the pass, waiting for the group to approach. It would be tricky, pulling off an attack from this far away. But he had done so before, and would do so again, hopefully. Trying not to think too many bad thoughts, and staying focused on dying with honor, Harfang set to work.
He could sight the demons a bit better than the regular humans, mainly because normal humans clustered together when they were preparing to attack; demons separated. So, focusing his deadly attacks on the single individuals instead of the group, and focusing his stranger attacks on the group instead of the individuals, he would split them up, scatter them, and hopefully kill off some demons.
The Whips came first. Rising up out of the ground, there were at least a dozen of them, all spread out but all near the groups of humans. Harfang whipped the humans with his tendrils, but at this distance, they weren't deadly. In fact, they were nothing more than bothersome, having not enough speed and solidity. But the Blades, those were different. He focused on the demons, hitting them with the blades, knocking them down and cutting them badly whenever he could. It wasn't easy, not at all, and he began to get drained very, very quickly. Using magic at this distance, on this scale, was very hard. So, he quickly changed tactics. After scaring the humans and cutting the demons, he took his Whips and got them retreating off to the right. Away from both him and the pass. If he was lucky, he could lure most of the men and demons away, get them fighting the whips and not his group, and make sure they didn't attack him in the process.
He never even saw the demons that snuck around behind him, moving in quickly on his tiring body while his attention was elsewhere. And he certainly didn't hear them. Not until it was too late....

"Demons want stone. Skye have stone. Not pet demons by making it near." Gromnd grummbled at Skye, folding his arms for a moment as he completed the sentance. There was much weight to his words, if the demons wanted the stone, what would be the point of risking them getting it by having her charge into battle?
"Gromnd help stupid Gryphon, Skye go. Gromnd already lived once and died once, so again no fear for Gromnd." If he had of had facial features, Gromnd would have given Skye a slight, one sided, sorrowful smile before stomping off towards the pass. Instead, he simply stared at her for a moment, before twsiting on the spot digging a deep furrow into the earth and walking towards the pass. As he moved, rocks literally began ripping themselves from the earth and forming a swirling cloud above his head. Inwardly he smiled, knowing that whatever occured, his actions surely had some worth to whatever judged souls in the afterlife, he just had to hope that it balanced out all the evil and depraved acts he had done if life.

Skye was angry. She would have been able to handle herself had they let her gone, then again, to everyone else she was simply a human. However, she wasn't about to sit here, closing her eyes she picked up on everyones aura, which appeared to be small white dots on the back of her closed eyelids. Soon the demonic signatures glowed a firey red, and she managed to pick out the gryphon. Mumbling a few words, she raised her arms however to the outside world, no one knew what she was doing.
Harfang suddenly felt himself become lighter, less of a burden upon his shoulders. around him everything seemed normal but to the trained eye, they would see everything looked a bit oily, (not enough to hinder vision) there was a shield around Harfang. I could not sit back and not do anything as a friend went into battle Skye's voice piped up in Harfang's mind. Skye then moved onto Gromnd, it would be alot easier, she could see him. She opened her eyes and simply outstretched an arm towards him, and he too had a shield. She smiled to herself, at least these will hold up for awhile, long past the battle is over, thats for sure. Skye chose a special kind of shield, it was one that took to the form it was protecting, instead of the simple circular 360 degree ones. With a shield like this, it wouldn't have to drop down in order for the shielded one to attack and so proved very effective during battle.

The demons behind Harfang were obliterated by a dark power. Just...gone, in depths of immense, crackling energy. And a man stood in place behind the gryphon. It was the man from earlier, straw hat held in a hand, identity revealed, as his cloak was ripped away...
Name: Obscuritas Nox
Race: Demon
Appearance: Will edit. Gotta run.
Faction: Good
Weapons: Himself
Magic: Katana: The weapon is of shadow and is at Nox' command. Caligo Dominatio: Focussed attacks of dark properties. Opacus Clipeus: Teleportation. Tenebrae Novalis: A supernova of demonic energy is released, affecting a devastating radius. However, it leaves Nox completely drained.
History: Raped repeatedly by the demon, the Priestess cries out in pain... Thus is the result of Nox. Though the Priestess has since died, she left with Nox her teachings, he her prowess. Her in his thoughts, he fights the demons, but not for his needs; the needs of the innocents; the needs of the Priestess. Though fighting for good, he doubts the cards he has been dealt...
Other: None...yet.
"I THOUGHT I said, get AWAY, gryphon..." Nox grunted. "Where is m'lady Skye?" The man wasted not a moment, katana summoned in a hand, ready to fight.

Harfang turned to the newcomer, even as he felt himself grow lighter. He could feel his whole body like it was on fire, he was so tired and drained from the magic. But he knew he had to keep up the magic onslaught. So, as he saw the newcomer who destroyed the demons behind him, he wasn't sure how to react. He kept his attention almost completely focused on the Whips and Blades he was using to hit the demons and humans, and simply could not answer the man. Instead, he simply nodded his head, a way to say "thank you" to the mysterious man. He didn't even know that he was being protected by Skye's shield, and didn't even know that he had just avoided death by a mere second.
He focused back on the matter at hand....and now he saw a few demons heading back towards his position. He focused on them, and could feel the other whips and blades dying out. But the ones he hit the demons coming towards him with were powerful, almost full strength. One fell to the ground with a watery whip through his midsection. One's head was lopped off easily with a blade. They died, every one of them that were coming back to search for him.
And as they died, Harfang simply couldn't take it anymore. He sighed once, and, trusting to fate, he fell forward, passing out instantly.

"Hm... It's like a funeral march to your own funerals around here... You are forgetting what just happened here - these demons are no match for us now, no matter their number," the man in black had said, but still they headed off. The gryphon, the phoenix, and the golem. He stood there with a smirk on his face as they all loped off to their demise... But then the girl took action. Ordos kept a close tab on her activities as she cast her spells. There was great power flowing through her, and the stone seemed to resonate with that same strength. He simply stood there and watched while she put her allies in shields. "Well, their 'honor' is served - they went in first. What say you to joining this little sortie ourselves?" He smiled, a warm, inviting smile... and offered his hand to Skye.

Nuri dropped out of the sky like a fireball bathnig the ground in fire, it passed over her companions like a warm blanket but incinerated any demons her. Landing Nuri shrieked at the nearest demons still twitching in pain or dieing. She hopped over to where the unconsious Harfang lay and picked his gently up in one of her claws. "Nuri Cursed-one shall carry Noble Gryphon to safety!" Nuri took to the sky barely wieghed down at all by the Gryphon in her claws. She moved Harfang out of the battle setting him down softly on the ground. Looking once more to the battle she changed back to her humanish form and knelt on the ground lifting his eagle head so she could see him better. Frowning and trusting the rest to deal with the demons she upened Harfangs beak well aware that he was suffering from magical exhaustion. Keeping his beak open she reached inot her pouch and drew out the crystal vile again pulling the stopper free and allowingseveral drops to fall inot his open maw. That done she closed his mouth and waited. resting the Gryphons head on her lap while she waited for the healing effect of the phoenix tears to take effect. Exhaustion was a little different from physical injury because it encompased both mind and body. When Harfang awoke he would feel pleasently normal but it would take proper rest for his magic to truely rejuvinate within him. A proper nights rest was all he really needed.

Gromnd watched as the solider running towards him gradually shrugged away the disguise of metal and armour, and instead turned back to a demon, its old skin literally falling away and turning to smoke and ash as it fell away. There was a bulky pass of gently convulsing flesh above where the heat would have been, the creature was still bi-pedal and quite human like, though the fleshy growth seemed to spread across its entire body. Its skin was an odd mix of pallid flesh and dark blue veins, while the tendrils around its body were black. Eyes unblinking and glassy, mouth hung open revealling a layer of ground, though very much human teeth. The human disguise gone, two 'pods' formed upon its back, literally bubbling out of the flesh, before splitting open spilling black ichor to the floor and allowing two sythed like limbs to appear and swing forwards. It fell fowards, propelling itself on all fours, still vaguely humanoid, with sythes outstretched ready to strike at Gromnd.
One of the larger rocks in Gromnds halo of rocks sped towards it one it crossed some invisible threshold, bits of earth falling away from it as it sped forwards. The demon darted sideways, yet the rock altered its course accordingly. There was a sickening thud as the rock met flesh and bone, crushing it instantly with a wet thump. Black ichor spraying upwards and outwards in a minature explosion as it was sent skywards from the force of the impact. The demons body went limp, it falling forwards onto its stomach, rear legs flailing wildly as though the demon had been created to wound its foes even as it died. Gromnd watched the demon thrash around for a few moments before moving futher forwards towards the pass, the rocks swirling above his head slowly turning darker in colour, resembling the ones that made him.

Name: Choula Race: Demon Appearance: i5.photobucket.com/albums/y180/Laurlie/Demoness.jpg i5.photobucket.com/albums/y180/Laurlie/DemonessHeight.jpgColoured version coming soon! Skin is dark green, horns and bone are grey, underbelly has a pale off-white colouration down to just before tail. Tail is greyish black and spikey base to long spike is a red/yellow fade. Fleshy fibres from hole in chest are dark colouration and fibres under bone casing on neck are dark orange you get basic idea until I get it done. The scorpion like tail has a poison injecting claw. Poison slowly ravages your body, begins as cold sweats and accelerates into weakness until a point the victim can no longer walk. Tears of the Phoenix, petal of the Rune flower and crushed Haenai nut are currently the only cures, all of which need to be injested. Choula has a human form too, pale skin, ice blue eyes with flecks of yellow and long jet black hair, has a tendency to wear mostly black cloaks. Faction: Evil Rank: High Commander Weapon/Magic: She herself is very much a formidable weapon, with the amount of bone, armour, spines and pincers she would be considered the speediest tank around. However she has powerful magic that can easily be a nuisance to almost instant death. Choula creates her own demons from her soul however it takes time. (as time goes on you will learn of her magic), knows regeneration though at a slow rate. History: Has been a High Commander of hell for centuries, and is known for her brutality, strength, and agility. Other: Currently lives in a dead forest that has long been taken over by Demons and now poison rots the trees into warped objects creating homes for her own creations. A pool so still it looked like a mirror, one that reflected what she wanted to see, or at least through her minion’s eyes. However when her young one was eliminated by a golem, she stabbed the water in frustration using her two pincer arms upon her upper torso. The ground hissed as the seemingly safe water hit the dry dirt, the water was not the life source the world came to know, it was acid. As the acid pool calmed, Choula looked down at the long veins stretching across her chest which tightened, and then relaxed once more. Inside she was conceiving another creature, a creature created from the pure darkness of her mind and soul. The acid pool became a shimmering mirror once more, this time she had a different view of the battle, her tiny Chordevoc flew above the battle. www.wizards.com/dnd/images/row_gallery/86667.jpgThis one being about the size of an apple, no one even noticed it with all the commotion. A deep throated chuckle rose from her chest, she was pained to see the dead body of her young one however she had hundreds more in waiting, all hiding within the old, rotted trees. “I need more powerful creations.” She said aloud as she laid herself down, tucking her pointed feet beneath her body and allowing her pincer arms to rest comfortable at her side as the humanoid arms were crossed over her chest. “The younglings I have made now… more rest I need before making a new creation.” All six of her eyes looked up to the misty canopy’s only to return to the battle in front of her, she studied carefully, looking for weaknesses…

Harfang was dreaming. But it was a horrible dream. Demon shapes flitted through a field of whiteness, and every one of them stopped to hit him or stab him with their blades at least once. His entire body hurt so much it went numb, the hits were so painful. And he could not strike back, his muscles frozen in a posture of outraged denial, his body unable to move. So he lay there in his dream, his body numb but his mind awake, and felt the hit of every demon that passed him by.
Slowly, the dream faded away, and left him with something else. Nuri Cursed-One's face, hovering above him, with the trees and the sky as a background. His body still felt numb, from all the attacks, and his mind still refused to move his muscles, telling him it would be fruitless. But what kind of dream was this, seeing Nuri's face above him and nothing else. Her lips were moving, but he couldn't hear anything, and definitely couldn't react because this was one strange drea.....
Harfang twitched, twisted, and ended up with his feet underneath him, standing up, his head bobbing side to side in dizziness at rising too fast. "This is no dream!" He exclaimed, and nearly fell over again. His muscles were numb, they were so exhausted, and he couldn't quite move the same way as normal. He suddenly remembered everything that had happened to him, the battle, the demons, the mysterious man who had somehow saved him, the other demons, the passing out.... He remembered it all. And he realized something. Nuri had saved him! He didn't know exactly how, but it was probably the Phoenix tears that had saved him....
He spoke in a very quiet, exceedingly respectful voice. He was abashed at having to be saved, but he was still incredibly thankful. "Nuri Cursed-One, I thank thee, from the bottom of mine heart. Thou hast saved me from demons and death, most inglorious death, and I thank thee. Thou be'st a good friend."
And with that, he walked up to the woman/phoenix, spread his wing wide, and embraced her with it, as if it were another arm. He embraced her only for a short time, his feathery wings soft on her face and body, and then he let her go.
"Where art the others? Need they our help? Doth the battle still rage?"

"Battle continues on ever as before but Demons broken and fleeing fro mpower unleashed by others. Not long and way will be clear but Nobel Harfang must remain steadfast here away from battle, there is no dishonour in resting. nor is thier any in remaining aloof from the battle when one's presence could endanger others." she said warning him simply to stay put. "Nobel Harfang must rest when danger is not so near ta hand to restore strength fully, Phoenix Tears restore physical body not soul, mind or magic. Only Sleep and proper rest can cure all." Nuri remained kneeling upon the ground he gaze locked on the battle. Most people would only have seen miniture shadows moving about at the distance they were at but both Nuri nad Harfang had the advantage of hawke eyes. They could see distant things as if they were within arms reach.

The mysterious mage and Skye now made their way into combat, and as if triggered by her very presence, the whole of the demon force swarmed to them. "Ah yes, perfect... Come, come to your demise... Your end... is here..." Ordos had been gathering energy ever since he made it onto the scene and now began unleashing tremendous quantities of it upon his foes. Beams of light cut forth from his hand reducing all they touched to ash, and the ground it hit burst forth seconds after. After a minute or so of this, Anima began laughing, to himself at first, but so loud that the two that had taken their leave could hear him. When it was over, there was nothing left, and the golem had accidentally been buried. It was nothing he couldn't handle, however. There was literally nothing left of the enemy; hide nor hair of demon or human. With one last blast, Anima cleared a way for them to proceed with a bow. "I'm sorry that took so long, milady... I'm afraid I got a little carried away..."
