Skye nodded and began walking her way through the pass. It was getting dark and soon, they would ahve to rest. It would be good to post guards she thought, don't want anyone attacking in the night. "We will camp once we've travelled through the forest a bit."

It was dark and eveyone of them were weary. The day was very busy for most of them and rest was something they looked forward to. Finding a small, shallow cave everyone began filing in. Slumping down onto the rocky cave floor, Skye yawned. "Guess someone should keep watch, I could if anyone doesn't want to."
Outside a drizzle started which soon turned into a light rain

"I do not take well to the notion of sleep with that Gryphon near me. I shall take watch if none other wishes." Ordos looked fine, not weary in the least.

Nury stood by the enterance of the cave and said nothing her back was t the others as she listened to the rain her eyes lost in a memory of a time long before the times of soem of these others. In that memory she too heared hte rain as it fell lightly on the world beyond a world much simpiler and yet harsher then the world of today... Alone in the night the girl called Erica watched from the shadows of the forest as the flames rose higher in the night. The rain was light and fine liek mist falling like a curtain but it would have no effect on the building as it bured. Somewhere deep in her mind Erica knew she should be upset about the fire, abbout the loss of everything she had known and loved but she wasn't. All she could do was watch with a kind of hollow detachment as hte small thatched roof and thick log walls of the house that had been the place of her birth nad hte birth of her family while the howling marauders of the vallage stood about it. Thier gaunt pockmarked faces shadowed with an inhuman vileness that was intensified by the flames. The plague that had struck her home town was a fats moving one and yet for all its vilness causing flesh to rot and the bodies to melt from the inside out her family had remained oddly untouched whole other families lost lovedones. Perhaps it was that luck that doomed them but EWrica doubted it was the only reason, the other reason she knew was because of her. For as long as she could remember Erica could see things that wren't there in both people and the air around her and fplay with fire like it was a toy. Fire had always been atractive ot her, soemhow Erica knew she need never be afraid of it, fire was her friend, and like an affectionate pet it would coil and crackle in her hands never losing its glow or its warmth. now out of fear and hate these deseased villagers had destroyed her family in the hopes of destroying her too. Fools that htey were to use fire to try and destroy her... it had been hopless ot save her brothers and parents they were dead the moment the fire trapped them. The rain covered her face like a water mask while clothed only in the singed cloths she had shoved in on hte panic a pair of old breeches and a tunic. She turned and left hte hateful village pausing once in her journey as she spied the shape of a wolf padding across her path. it paused and turned ot look at her, the eyes of the wolf made her shudder for some reason or perhaps it was to do with the sickly green aura or maybe it was the way its head and body looked as diseased as the villagers she had grown up with. The wolf rose up and turned trotting away almost mockingly and vannished nito the shadows as if it had never been. Repulsed she avoided the place the wolf had stood giving it a wide bearth as she traveled in no real direction just anyplace that wasn't here.
Nuri closed her eyes and raised a hand ot her face, her fingertips brushed the wet streaks that covered her cheecks and without a thought she stepped out into the rain ignoring the way it hissed as it touched her black wings and dissapeared from sight to be alone in her solitude and her memories and to keep watch from her own vantage point.

Skye stood, "Nuri..." she was about to go after her but stopped at the mouth of the cave. She probably needed to be alone, why else would she leave? Skye just hoped she would be ok out there on her own. Turning slowly only to glance back outside, Skye sat back down. She yawned and almost seem to sigh at the same time and pulled her knees up close, wrapping her arms around her legs, her eyes slowly closed as the need to sleep was too overwhelming. She hated this human form, it seemed almost too weak, always needed sleep, food water. A fragile species humans were but they always seem to have this hidden power of strength. As a dragon Skye couldn't quite understand it but never thought too much of it when she finally zonked out.

Gromnd wandered to one corner and simply collapsed, no words spoken, it was as if the magic holding him together had been turned off.

Nuri had walked for how long she wasn’t sure but the rain had stopped long ago and the moon had just reached its zenith. She was alone in the night with naught but for the hoots of the owls and the soft shuffling of the nocturnal beasts that dwelled upon the ground. Almost absently she wrung her dark locks and then spread her wings taking ot the air with ease to soar on silent wings. She glided with ease across the night bathed land until she came to the outcropping where the sleeping members of her companions. Landing silently on top she crouched on the ground. The melancholy mood that had gripped her faded into memory to join those others that were hers and those of two others, Those two who were melded together to make she Nuri Cursed-one. It was still some hours from dawn she could keep watch for many more days before needing to sleep and there was still the matter of that sorcerer… he made her uneasy yet she could not recall completely why…

"The party will not wake until morning, Master..."
"...Very good. And what of Ordos?"
"My spell lulled him, as well. But I worry of Nuri Cursed-One..."
"...Aye. She is out and about. She may not like our unorthodox ways - you, Lucis..."
"Yes, my Lord?"
"Keep Nuri Cursed-One out of my plans. By your discretion, make it so."
"Yes, my Lord."

Nuri sat in the silent night and listened ot the night life about her until the sound of slidding stones reached her ears. She looked up and stared inot the night her eyes changing to a dark coal colour as shesought out the source of the sound but all she could see were the shadows of the night. Turning bakc to her thoughts Nuri sat once more in silence watchnig the moon on her lonely journey across the sky.

Choula paced in her rotten, poisonous home. "Where is he? He should be after them." she snarled, her hawk had lost sight of the travelling party and so she waited, contemplating on checking out the situation herself... no... there was another way.
Skye was in a deep, peaceful sleep when something stirred her sub-conscious mind. Small, pin-pricks went into her back thought she couldn't move. "Oh my dearest..." a dark voice came from the dark "Your friends will be your downfall." "No, they won't. I can trust them." who was she talking to? "You think you could trust them but really, you're cause of those on going war." "No i'm not!" "Your blood is within your body, the gates are closed, and you continue to run with the dark stone... what good is that?" "To keep it away from the demons, to stop them from releasing the dark dragons." "Fool... I should kill you now!!" A massive creature leapt at her, where suddenly Skye woke up with a jolt, her eyes dilated. She felt fear, her arms pricked with goosebumps and a shudder threatened to cause her body shake. Looking around a few of the others were looking at her, "heh... bad dream." Skye looked to Gromnd, she didn't like when he was like this, and it could be another few days until he's back to normal. With a sigh she laid back down and attempted to go back to sleep

Draging her mind from the contemplation of the night sky Nuri reached into the small bag she carried at her waist and slipped out three hand length metal pipes. Sliding them together so they formed one she looked the hollow rod over in the moonlight before placing the mouthpiece ot her lips. the first note she blew was soft and sweet, carrying in the night air like a whisper banishing unrest. The second note was deep and resounding as it echoed through the dark banishing the dark thoughts. She let the two notes fade and then closed her eyes taking a deep breath before she began to play. The melody that carried in the night banished fears, unease and wory in all that heared it yet Nuri herself could not be eased bythe soothing tenor of the melody she played. She could banish fear and hate in others, she could help the restless find peace the the sleepless sleep but not lightn her own burdened heart and the trouble that settled deep upon her soul. Yet her concearns would remain her own. She need not laiden those she traveled with, with her own dark past. Itwas not thier concearn to know that she is a cursed beast, half human and halph Phoenix made so against thier choice so now they would remain ever more Nuri. What mattered was hte sucess of Skye's journey, she must protect the stone for hte demons to lay thier hands upon it would mean the end to all things. All would suffer and the world itself would cry in dispair. On Nuri played letting the night pass as it would, the dawn would come soon enough.

"Beautiful melody..." Nuri Cursed-One opened her eyes and saw a man walking away. His last words lingered. "Come with me, Cursed One; I will ease your pain away as you did mine. And as you do."

Nuri let the song die away and lowered her flute leaving it on the rock where she sat above the the cave and rose to her feet. Curios she followed the man wondering who he was and how he could posisbly know her pain. Her pain was her own, none could ever understand it. She followed the man off the cave top and inot the trees, always did he keep just ahead of her, far enough to stay out of immediate reach but close enough to be seen. Soon however he vannished utterly from ehr sight leaving Nuri alone in the trees. Perplexed and wary she rested her hand lightly on the hilt of one of her sharp blades and turned to return to camp.

Nuri Cursed-One yelped as a chloroform drenched rag was clamped over her mouth. "Fear not," The man said reassuringly as arms wrapped around an unconcious Nuri.

(ooc: this is a dream puzzle of Nuri’s none will be able to find her while its happening. For all intensive purposes it will be as if Nuri has vanished from the group for a while) She was alone, that was all Erica knew. The place where she stood was a large room with a weedy fountain to the side. Moss grew like a carpet over the blue stone walls. She had never felt so utterly alone and isolated, it felt wrong so terribly wrong. “Edañya?” she called but there was no answer. Her mind realed this place was so familiar, where had she seen it before? If only her memories were not so fragmented. You know this place child, a cold and hollow voice replied. Erica turned sharply following the voice but there was only darkness behind her, a wall bathed utterly in shadow. ”Where are you?” she demanded calling fire to her hands already, it lept from hand to hand awaiting eagerly the chance to do her bidding. “Everywhere…. She shuddered despite herself and turned to look about the room again. Upon turning full circle she found the black wall had vanished revealing a dark stone walled corridor. I’m waiting for you Erica… I have all the answers you need and could ever want. You’d better hurry though I don’t like to be kept waiting and… there is the little problem of the monster behind you… She turned and saw a kind of reptilian bird behind her. Its black eyes were hollow as it shrieked and began to crawl towards her on its arm like wings. Without thinking she hurled a fireball at the creature but the fire just sizzled and went out against the beast’s skin. She could not fight this thing. Instead she turned and ran dow the corridor aware of the creature hollowed shriek behind her as it gave chase, determined to kill her if it ever got close enough.
~
The cage was made of gold and silver bound to form powerful binding bars that resisted her magic. Edañya cried in despair her voice carrying through the glass room even as the blue sky soared overhead calling back to her. She was trapped in her cage, tricked there by the evil sorcerer who had so utterly deceived her into believing him. Now she suffered at his hands unable to free herself formthe cage. Her song of sorrow soared higher and higher as her sorrow deepened. She knew this place only as her prison. Your song of sorrow is as music to my ears Phoenix. Continue to sign and despair for me, ”You! she accused savagely her musical voice carrying with it an edge of steel dipped with a deep seeded hate. Free me deceiver, traitor. You have no right to hold me as you do!” Perhaps I don’t but that will not stop me Edañya your mine just as the girl is…. She’s coming to me right now you know. Such a sweet girl, so young, os pretty and easy for the pickings. Though to reach me she’ll have to deal with my pet… you remember him don’t you? the hollowed voice laughed about her with amusment. Tell you what Phoenix, I’ll let you free so you can save the girl, save her before she reaches me and I’ll let you both go don’t and…. Well you’ll just have ot wait and see… The cage and the room with the glass was gone. Edañya found herself instead standing on her two feet wings tucked tight about her in a roofed room, large and dark. The bluestone walls carpeted in moss, the wall before her shuddered and melted away revealing a wide and tall passage way. Hurry Edañya or little Erica will be mine… The Phoenix hissed her reply and spread her wings. She took flight half gliding half flying down the passage. Several passages branched off in several directions turning corners or rounding back on themselves. With a sinking feeling Edañya became aware that she was in a maze. The chances of running into Erica could prove to be very slim indeed.
