Erika smiled and picked up something brown and sleek. The snake hissed as it was manhandled and twisted about in mid-air while Erika held it up in one gloved hand. She wasn't sure if her ability extended ot animals but it was better to be safe then sorry. The snake hissed again anfd tried ot strike her but Erika pushed herself just out of its strike range and laughed. "Oh you are having a hissy-fit today eh?" she then promtly threw the snake out of their litle gathering and smiled another evil little smile. "I can manage a sneak out easy enough... though I hink I will come study at your house tonight.... the parentals are having...guests over. Its hard enough waiting for midnight without the kind of drunken thoughts..." she shuddered. "And i don't much like thier son i'd almost swear he's taken a shining to me...yek!" she made a mock gag reflex. "Please note that it is the same lad who has the hots for the Math's teacher but I won't name names."

Assuming that the whole thing was common knowlage around Bixby, Alexander didn't question as to who the kid was. It wouldn't have mattered to him, anyway, because he knew a grand total of three kids from that school; all right there. He'd also chosen to ignore the comments about drunken thoughts, assuming that she either meant what they said, or that she was pretending to be some sort of mind reader again. He'd run into people like that before, too. "Sneak...? Study...? I don't use either of those words... ever. There's no need to 'sneak' out of my house because my mother's pissy all the time anyway, and never does anything anymore. Plus I never study. Never have; never really needed to." Alex modestly bragged.
Snakes never really bothered the boy, but being bitten by things did; for obvious reasons. Of course. he thought, looking around his his hands in his pockets, observing the ground and the rock with the artwork. Of course this place would be crawling with the dangerous kind of snakes. There's never a desert with the cool green kind. Heeell no. Still, Alex looked to everyone, and simply shrugged.
"I'm in, I suppose. But I ain't walkin' here; you're gonna get me a ride. Especially since it seems we're gathering at your place." Alex didn't feel like himself around those people. It was strange; he felt constricted. Especially since that Erika chick had shot him down so blatently. The Jason kid was sortta weird, too. Seemed like one of those kids who needed either lots of attention or to be completely ignored. It was always hard to tell which one people were.
What have I gotten myself into?

Erika shot Alex a strange look and shook her head sadly. " Of course theres dangerous snakes around here but come the midnight hour you'll find something more dangerosu then them out here. Also... If a desert were green it would be open plains not a desert, its meant to be arid and dry." She then looked skyward and closed her eyes. "What have you gotten yourself into Casanova? Let me put it to you this way. You've gotten yourself into somethnig that will leave you changed, it will change hte way you think and precieve the world. No more of this single sterotyping nerd, geek, jock and freak. You'll understand soon enough." She gave him a piercing look. "Perhaps for you the only way to break you of your skeptisisim would be to..." she closed her eyes and then looked down at her hand then slid her glove off. "I don't do this without good cause Casanova... maybe after you might understand, your skeptisisim and doubt is really starting to grate on me... just this once and thne never again..." the last part was more for her self as she advanced on him she stopped short and held out her hand for him to take if he dared. "Lil's, Jason... be on standby this could get ugly...."

Alex rolled his eyes when Erika extended her hand. "I couldda sworn that you told me never to touch you. But I suppose if you wanna dance then I'm not one to refuse." He gave a playful wink before extending his own arm in an overly-gentlemen-like way, taking her hand as if about to go off to a dance floor.
As soon as Alex was holding Erica's hand it happened. Everything seemed like it just froze for him. At first the feeling was startling, as if everything just dropped out from under the boy and he was about to fall. Things got worse immediately after, Alex feeling as though his whole body was being dropped out from under him. He was experiencing an overwhelming feeling of hatred for large groups of people, and an urge to live for midnight. It was as if his whole person was beginning to shift to that of someone else's; someone that wasn't very happy.
Then, however, the strangest thing happened. After only a few moments of the sickening feelings of hatred, it all just stopped. It was for but a fraction of the already nearly frozen time, but everything just seemed to stop right as it was. The feelings; all thought; all movement halted. Then instantly Alex began to notice a turn-around form the previous moments. Everything that he saw became crystal clear; as if he were seeing everything as what it was, without having to look through any sort of medium. At the same time, he began to feel overwhelmed by... joy; or at least something that could only be described as such. All of a sudden everything was seeming as if it were perfect. He no longer felt any hatred for anything; he hardly felt at all. Alex was in a state of complete zen... and he didn't exactly know why.
Before he could fully appreciate any of the feelings that had come to him, and after what seemed to be a simple second and a half to the outside world, Alexander's arm tore itself - under no command form its owner - away from Erica's hand, pulling the boy's body along with it. He fell to the ground and quickly rolled over from there, looking around in every direction franticly, panting hard. Everything looked very blurry all of a sudden, and he didn't know where he was or what direction he was looking in or even what the nearest hour of the day was. It was like being straight from a high and brought cold turky to reality all in a matter of seconds. Instant detox.
Through all that, though, Alex knew one thing: That was, despite the rough start, the greatest experince of his life. He was quite possibly the most at peace and the happiest in that instintanious speck of time; it was a feeling beyond description of Nirvana itself; the ultimate high. He didn't even want it to have ended.
After about half a minute on the ground, he managed to sputter out one word through his constant heaving and wild eyes. "Whoa."

The sensation for Erika went a little deeper then anything Alex could have understood, she remembered and felt everything Alex had known in his life. Every good and bad moment it made her feel ill and elated, turned her midn inside out and twisted in on itslef. An emotional rollercoaster to where there was no beginning and no end, not until the touch was ended. This was an intimacy that most people could never handle, the kind of deep knowing of another that terrified others. It left you bare, without a shield of any kind. You were naken to the very soul, your every deepest fear and greatest delight known to the other, it was the kind of feeling that made you want ot run screaming but at hte same time embrace it as a whole.
When his hand was taken from hers it was like a door slamming, her midn was thrown back into itself with a force that made her physical body stumble backwards inot the rocks Lily had been sitting on moments before. She fell over backwards and lay there, her face covered with her hands as she tried to control her stomach. Up, down, left and right had no meaning no place as her mind tried to sort itself out, she took one shaking breath, the kind of breath that could have ben a sob and lay there remembering it all. Everymoment, every feeling and tried ot make sense of it all. The experience on a whole had been very odd, not quite like it had been with others. Not even when Jason touched her by accident, however brief it had been.
Was it because she'd done it willingly?
Sliding her hands away fro her face Erika stared up at hte cloudless sky and then closed her eyes. She sat up slowly then stood swaying ever so slightly. Erika dusted herslf off and replaced her glove. "Understand now Casanova?" her voice was flat and dead, she sounded like she was half dead, tired beyond reason.

Having been on his knees, completely overcome by himself and the silence, when Alex heard Erica speak again he was shocked. He immediately let himself drop hard to the floor, face in the sand. Laying there, he didn't even try and think for a good minute. After that span of time passed, the still confused boy flopped onto his back, arms and legs stretched out to their fullest extent, staring at the sky with a glassy solidarity. "I understand one thing, at least." He said, still watching the clouds roll across the endless span of blue, everything seeming as if it would be fuzzy forever. "I understand, dear, that I do not want to ever move again, unless a snake were to come upon me. I understand," he continued, adding a slight bit of scorn to the word, "That you have the ability to do amazing things with a touch. And I understand that that was probably the best thing to ever happen to me." He could barely manage a smile.
So many thoughts were going through Alexander's head, while all the while he couldn't focus enough to think one word. It had all happened so fast that it made the boy want to cry, though he didn't. It hadn't even occurred to Alex what the other two might've thought, or what time it was.
Even as the sky began to turn orange as the sun began the very start of its decent from the heavens, signaling the time they should start heading home, nobody had said or done anything. They were all simply sitting there, watching each other with minds aflame with questions and feelings new to them. Alex hadn't even notice the time pass at all, however long it had actually been. Though, it could be sure, Jason had been counting the seconds and making sure that a hand-made sundial was running on time. The idea would have made Alex laugh... if he had had the energy to think of it.

Erika looked at hte others and sighed. "Grab him up we really need to start heading back..." sheran her fingers through her hair and headed over to the car sliding inot the passengerside seat and closed her eyes. She was going to sleep for the next few hours before midnight. She needed the rest to gather her thoughts and her energy. She'd need them if they were coming back to the Snake Pit at the midnight hour.

Oh hell. Lily thought as she saw the exchange begin. Don't do it. Don't even THINK about it Erika! her mind screamed, knowing the Mindcaster would hear it loud and clear. But, of course, Erika did what Erika wanted and before Lily could protest out loud, the two were touching. "Fuck!" She yelled, running over as fast as she could and grabbing Alex's hand away. They didn't seem to notice it was here, which was fine. Alex dropped, but Lily was too angry to notice. She stood, glaring at Erika, her hands at her sides, tense, fingers curled into fists.
This was the kind of angry that is so deep, for the longest time you cannot even say a single word. The kind where everything is blank, until finally someone says or does something to get you out of it. Like when Erika told Lily to pick him up because they needed to go, then took off without another word. "Oh, hell, no!" Lily said, grabbing Alex with Jasons help and literally dragging him back to the car. She helped him into the back seat, and Jason got in after, that is after he performed a few rituals due to touching the kid who had just been on the desert floor. Lily opened the drivers side door, got in, and slammed it shut with such force it rocked the car.
"What... the FUCK... was that!?" She said, her voice elevating into a mere squeek at the end. "Who said you could go around touching people without permission, huh?" Lily ground her teeth, her jaw tense, her eyes flaming. "You KNOW we have rules about that. You KNOW what happened.. last time.." For a moment, Lily's eyes flashed a deep sorrow, a deep hurting. Her mind flashed back to her dad, but only for a brief second before she gained her fury back. "You could have hurt him you know! And I think we were planning on breaking it to him gently."
Lily turned to Jason, her face angry, but none of it directed at him in particular. "And the fuck!? I thought you said it was an unpleasant experience.. Not a fucking euphoric one!" Lily swallowed, turning back around and starting the car. She backed up, and found a road again, completely silent until she got onto Bixby's only highway. "We're going to my place." She spoke, and then was quiet, the music turned up slightly, only slightly easing the situation.

Erika weathered the storm of Lily's outburst with a kind of mute acceptance before she opened hereyes and turned her head ot look at Lily. "It was unpleasent Lil's for me Do you think I enjoy knowing a persons every feeling and fear and...and..." she trailed off her mind was too worn too streached out she trailed off and covered her face with her hands. She was deathly silent and hwen she did speak there was the slightest quaver ot her voice. "I don't do things without cause Lily... trust me.. nothnig you would have said would have convinced him. He needed to know and even if he did see them...anyway I think.. each expieriance is different with people thier ability to precieve what they get form me..." she shook her head trying to fidn the words to describe what happened. Then looked out the window as they got to the edge of town. "Pull over Lily, I'm gunna walk home...I need time to clear my head and I can't do that at present..." She wouldn't look at her she wouldn't look at any of them.

Alex was still in a daze throughout everything. But he could hear and sort of see the actions and events that went on in Lily's car, and when she stopped to let Erika out he closed his eyes and spoke. "You... don't have to get... all mad." the dizzy boy started faintly to Lilly. "I didn't.... I had accepted that.... I agreed to it as much as she did. It wasn't... all her fault..." They were driving away from Erika at a stedy pace by then, and Alex felt crushed. He placed much of the blame onto himself for the apperant rift in the group; he was saddened by the turn of events.
Opening his eyes, Alex looked now to Jason, slowly regaining his composure. "You man... you're a good guy, you know that? Maybe a little weird... but definately a good guy." Alex shifted his focus to the outside, looking up at the nearing dark sky with a blank look, directing his voice to nobody. "It's jsut too bad... too bad that she didn't seem to get the same experince out of what happaned that I did. Still, please calm down, Lily. Please..."
Alex simply drifted out of his thought. He opened the window and leaned his head so that he could smell the air blwing in his face, and simply... spaced out for the remainder of the ride.

Erika watched the car drive away in mure silence, she knew Lily had every reason to be mad. It was dangerous i the conection went on too long they could end up stuck...but the way she worded it. She shook her head and them kicked hte nearest letter box effectivly breaking it off its wooden post to vent some of her anger.
"How dare I touch someone eh Lil's?" she was angery over that, it made it sound like she had to ask her permission before she did stuff liek that. She who couldn't bare the touch of others because of the chaos it unleashed in her mind and her body, she who only touched others when she had a good reason. How dare she talk like that.
Erika walked alright, and she did go home but only to colllect her three sectioned pole and store it in its special holster which was strapped ot her thigh and then left to go walking. she had some serious steam to vent and if she didn't do it before the next time she saw Lily she'd say some very hurtful things. Erika wouldn't turn up at Lily's tonight let her initiate the newcomer herself with the human calculator. A nice litle threesome with Lily a the focus of those boy's attention, hell knows they screamed thier infatuation or intrest in thier minds loud enough.

Oh Jesus....
This was not a good situation.
Jason had touched Erika once before. It had not been a fun or exciting experience, not for him at least. Lost in each other's minds, even for that brief second, they had been dazzled by the information coming through. He had felt like he had shared something with Erika, and that had been a good thing. But the way it was shared....that had not been fun. Or euphoric. Or anything of the sort. He wasn't sure what had gone between Erika and Alex, but whatever it was, it sure was different from his experience. He had nearly gone mad because of that one touch. Alex seemed to be...happy about it.
He had helped carry Alex back to the car, and sat there now, watching, pretty much stunned that Lily had exploded at Erika, and that Erika had left. What the hell was going on? He sat quietly in the back, not wanting to provoke Lily, but wondering what she was thinking. Well...she was the leader of their motley little crew. But this was not the way to go about it. In fact, this was kinda opposite of what a good leader did. Under stress, it wouldn't be that crazy for Lily to explode. But what had made her do so now? What had stressed her out so bad? The touch? It was mostly Erika and Alex's problem, not Lily's. Why would she care so much that the two of them had connected mentally? Why would it worry her so much? She had said something about danger, but it had happened before without a problem. Unless there was something in the Lore about Midnighters dying because of the touch. Maybe that was it. Something in the Lore, something she hadn't told them about. Something dangerous. That had to be the answer. But why wouldn't she have told them before? Why wait until now to bring it up? Something wasn't right.
"Lils.... Is there.... Is there something you want to say? Or should we wait until we get to your house?" He spoke hesitantly, his speech quiet and his eyes downcast. He didn't want to make eye contact with her, lest he anger her again.

Lily grit her teeth, pulling the car over, slowing down to a halt. As Erika exited the car, she looked at her, her face softening. Take some time to think about things.. cool off.. I will to. Meet us at Midnight, Snake pit. Lily thought, straining the thought to go towards Erika, knowing she heard it. She put the car back into drive, and pushed on the gas, heading away from Erika.
She was silent, most the drive, but her face softened, and she slowed her driving, appearing more calm and collected. When Jason spoke to her, she looked at him through the rear view, her eyes flashing sadness and regret for a second. "No, Jason. Some things are better left untold." Turning her focus back to the road, they made it to her house a good three minutes later, and Lily exited the car. It was a small house, single level and two bedroom. Her and her father didn't require much space. She entered the house, beckoning the boys after her.
The interior was not filthy, but not immaculate either. It was decorated with a country home feeling, nothing real fancy. Lily's dad lay on his recliner, staring into an empty glass terrarium. "My babies." He said, his eyes glazed over as he turned his head to face Lily, "Where are my babies?" he asked. Lily's expression didn't change at all, and she grabbed a bottle in a cabinet near by, opening the lid and handing the pill to her father. "We're looking for them Dad." She said, and opened two more medicine bottles, extracting two pills of each. "Take your meds dad." She said, and waited for him to swallow all of them before she turned her attention to the others. "He should be okay for a while now." She said, leading them down a small hallway, past the only bathroom in the house, and into her room.
Lily's walls were painted a light green, and there were three floor to ceiling bookshelves lining the walls. It wasn't large, in fact, it was a little on the small side. Her bed was tucked into a corner, and consisted of two mattresses, double sized, stacked onto one another and covered with sheets and a comforter. Her sheets and blankets were all black, as were most of her rooms accessories. There was a small desk in between two of the shelves, a reading lamp and some writing utensils the only things on it. Really, besides the books that overflowed her bookshelves, the room was bare. She kept most of her things in her closet, which was closed.
"Make yourselves comfortable." Lily said, hopping onto her bed. She was a little embarrassed of her Father, and felt the need to explain to Alex. "Uhm, don't mind dad.. He won't bother you.. He might just ask about his tarantulas." She started, "Or, his babies, as he calls them. Don't worry though, they died." She gave a half smile, trying to be reassuring. "His mind isn't all it used to be."
Lily hoped that Alex wouldn't question, or that Jason wouldn't prod her about what happened earlier. She wanted to apologize, to explain, but didn't quite know how without blowing everything wide open, and she wasn't ready for that. So, she crossed her legs, kicking off her boots and resting her back on the wall behind her.

For the first time since his entrance in to Lilly's life, and therefor the first time either of the two bixby residents had ever seen, Alex got a deeply sad look in his eyes. He didn't know why, exactly but people in a situation like Lily's father was in always made him overwhelmingly sad. He sat on her bed, witthout even saying a word--he hadn't since what he said in the car ride. Form there he simply leaned on the wall and looked down, damned near crying. But it wasn't jsut because of her dad or his dead pets. He couldn't exactly put his finger on it, but he seemed more emotional than usual. It could've been that he was simply tired.
Minutes went by in silnce, before he decided to say something. "It's getting late already. Rather amasing, acctually, how late it's gotten." He pulled out his pocketwatch, which he had, of course, adjsuted to be on time that morning. "We gonna get down to studying? That is what we're supposedly here for, right?" Alex was joking, of course, but it had sounded like he was serious; his tone was just so flat.
Alex slumped over, falling on to his side while still laying on Lilly's bed. He jsut stared straight ahead, note ven knowing really what he was looking at (Which turned out to be Lilly's ass, of course. Isn't that always the way it works?). That kid was lost in his own lack of toughts. Still, though, he thought that he was ready to get out and do whatever.

Erika had walked around for a good few hours letting the whitenoise of all concius thought wash over her like a tide. Gradualy she became aware of herself again and found that she was nearing the Snake pit. Checking her watch Erika sighed she still had an hour or tow before mdnight. There was little point walking back, instead Erika wandered back to were they had been before and sighed sitting down upon the rock. To pass the time she closed her eyes and sorted though her thoughts and the newest memories that were not hers and yet now appart of her. They were her memories now even if they came from another person like with Jason and anyone else she ever touched it was like she was left with a little piece of them still floating around in her mind. whileshe was't normaly worried about it, the feeling always left her feeling strange and it was worse for the first day or so after touchnig someone...
Erika sighed deeply and fingered her three sectioned staff wondering how long it would take for hte others to show up...not that she was looking forward to Facing Lily rika still felt a kind of bitter resentment towards her and her words, perhaps that bitter taste would leave when the after affects of touching Alex. Only time would treat those ailments.
