An entire city - gone. Vanished from the face of the planet as if it never existed. This city was virtually wiped from memory.
Virtually.
A group of people escaped this fate - friends, young adults out on an unplanned vacation. It seemed as they were all there; not all of their friends, but those they knew from school, most at least on speaking terms with one another... The rest, friends, family - gone.
The improvised convoy came to a stop at a bridge that had been out for years by the look of it. "What the hell...?" Domonic couldn't believe it - that was the way they had left from only weeks ago. He got out and looked around the ruined bridge as the others honked at him, their views ocluded by the van he had been put in charge of driving. He stood as tall as he sat in the van, if not higher. At 6'4", he was nothing to trifle with. His midnight longcoat and its chain wavered in the slight breeze as he put a black tipless glove through his dark hair. "This is unbelievable... Impossible! We were just here when we left from... ...What? From...!"
It was gone. The roads. The buildings. The place. The name. Gone.
Yet here they were, unprepared for an adventure of this magnitude, coming back from what they had previously called an adventure. Armed only with fleeting road trip supplies and the money they had with them, things just got a lot more interesting.
What happened to their home? What would happen to them...?
Fill in name, age 18-25, description, etc. IC if you would. And yes, it is Domonic Gray - Redux.

A young woman by the looks of 20 came striding up, her flat sandals did not add much height to her 5' 4" height. A long brown gypsy skirt with a long beaded belt trailed in the wind, a ruffled, flowery blouse tied at the back pushed against her thin frame as she approached Domonic. A long silk sash tied around her short, spiked red hair fluttered in the wind, she brushed some of her longer bangs out of her eyes "Hey whats going... ... on ..." As she reached Domonic's side, saw what he saw, everything seemed to fall silent in her head and everywhere else, her jaw slowly hung open and stayed that way.

Moving on silent feet eighteen year old Gwynne came and stood a little off to the side of the pai, her white-blond locks pulled back into a ponytail that even though pulled back still reached down to her waist. She was clasped her gloved hands together before her as she looked out at the nothingness that had once been home. Her turquoise eyes searching the seemingly unpopulated landscape before her though violet tinted lenses. She pushed the glasses up the bridge of her nose and continued to stare in wonder.
“It’s like something out of the Twilight-zone…” was all she said then squatted on the ground glad at least she’d dressed in her black jeans (which were torn open at the knees) rather then her black skirt her heavy knee high boos and amethyst-purple colored long-sleeved top with black hooded vest. It was warmer and she could squat without the worry of the position of her skirt.
Absently she tugged at the long small plait that was found at the back of her right ear and laced with turquoise and violet beads. The silver bangles on her left wrist clicked as she shifted and then the silence as all stared at the empty scene before them in stunned silence. "This can't be happening..." she said hwen the sielce started ot get to much. "I mean I know i've said on several occasons I wishthe little hole we call home would dissapear but I wasn't this serious!"

Avery Donlan pushed away long locks of ebony hair from her face, blinking her celery eyes open. She had been sleeping when she heard some ruckus, and awoke. She stretched her long, thin limbs, her overall height around 5'9 with an extremely thin frame. Finally she exited the vehicle, speaking softly to the others, "Hey what..." but her breath caught, and she stood on shaky limbs behind her friends. She breathed out the last word of her sentence, her vivid green eyes glazed over and dulled, "...happened?" She had a sudden urge to retrieve her zip up hoodie from the car. She had been using it as a pillow, and now the black tank top she wore seemed insufficiant. Light denim jeans covered her legs and a simple pair of old, worn out, black converse on her feet. Avery shivered at the sight, feeling her eyes start to water. Her body was in shock mode, and she was unable to move. What is going on!? her brain screamed at her, but she had no answer. She blinked, forcing her long, curling eyelashes to bat over her eyes, willing the vision away, but it stayed, in perfect, plain site. Something was wrong! She had to be dreaming! Avery tried to will her body to move, to pinch herself, but she was frozen, her arms limp at her sides. OOC: Avery

Graham was honking loudly at the back of the line.
"Domonic! You fucking fag! What's the hold up?"
It was all in good fun of course. Dom was a good friend, as were most of the people on this little trip. Graham sat in the car, peering at the van at the front of the line which seemed stopped in the middle of the road.
"What the hell is he doing up there? Jesus..." He stepped out of his car door, running his hand down to smooth his shirt. He was wearing a gray Red Sox t-shirt, with loose blue jean shorts, and New Balance cross-trainers on his feet. He wasn't exactly an attractive young man, and that was proven a fact. A 21 year old virgin with a few pounds too many on his six foot frame (scratch that, 50 pounds too many) and fairly dull features, he was not exactly girl bait. Not that he cared. He preferred girls as friends, not as pieces of meat, and treated them as such. And as for guys, well...as long as they were cool with him, he was cool with them. Domonic was pretty cool with him.
He started walking up towards the van, his footsteps solid on the concrete. He saw a group of them all hovering around the van, staring off into space it seemed. What the fuck?
"Guys, hey. What's wrong? Dom, did you pop a tire or..."
The view finally registered. Wasn't this supposed to be home? Wasn't this supposed to be the road to ...? To...? What was that place called? But he could remember it, even if he couldn't remember the name! It was home, he could remember his street, his house, the college he went to, everything! But ahead of him, in front of the van....there was...nothing. Nothing at all. A broad spread of nothingness. As if the place ... had never existed. It didn't look like it was exploded by terrorist bombs, or torn apart by war, or even taken over by vicious creatures from the Netherworld. It was, quite simply...Gone.
He came up behind Avery and Gynne, and stood still quietly. There was obviously something very, very wrong here. He stared off into space like the others, his eyes almost unfocused, his mind confused.
"Did we..." He stuttered, suddenly nervous. "Did we take a wrong turn or something? This can't be ... , can't be ... , fuck. This can't be what it's supposed to be. This can't be home."

"Oh great, Dom got us lost again." Adam bellowed, head stuck out of the window of the heap of scrap metal that (barely) passed for a car. It was clearly designed for off road useage, large sturdy tyres, heavy bull bars, and the vehicle was coated in a thick layer of mud, making its actual colour impossible to see. There was no malice in his words, but his somewhat aggressive way of expressing himself never won him many friends.
Not that such a thing was even a slight concern to him. While he often hung around with Dominic and his mates, Adam had never truely joined the group, and they had never really wanted him to join either, so the feeling was mutual, but he was useful to be around, and, at times, quite amusing. He wasn't the most visible of the group, lacking any true distinguishing features. He was slightly below average height, but not by much, but literally nothing else stood out about him.
His vehicles engine misfired and popped as he opened the door and stepped out. Sturdy, though clearly quite cheap, blue jeans, some oil spots on them, black shirt, and a pair of mirrored shades which some people believed to have been permenantly welded to his face. "Hang about, this don't look right..." He looked over at the place where the city had used to be, clearly not something significant to promote an actual emotional response from him, he instead stared a while longer, before mummbling something to himself and returning to his vehicle, killing the engine as he got in, and simply sitting there looking straight ahead.

Matthew Heart pulled up in his Harley, swerving to a stop next to Domonic. The 21 year old was last in the line, a real bastard. If a sexy bastard. He took off his helmet, long black hair cascading down his back. And his dark brown eyes stared off into space, before looking to Domonic. "Well, I trust you didn't get us lost, brudda, but if we are where we wanna be, where the hell is... fuck it."The black clad man did not give a shit about the place, so he did not wreck his brain trying to find an answer as to where it was now, and why he could not remember the name. Instead, a gloved hand squeezed the brilliant silver cross around his neck. "So... where to now, leader?" Matthew was no blood relative to Domonic, but he valued him as a true friend. And so he meant no disrespect.

Gwynne stood up and streached. "thats what I'd like to know, where to. what now and what the fuck happened to our home town?" She tugged at her small plait bangles clicking and then moved to the side of the van hauling herself p onot the roof and stood there doing a full three-sixty turn to get a view of thier surroundings. "Abso-fucka-lutely nothing.... you could swear this part of the land was never inhabited by human life... I reaken we've entered the Twilightzone. We have to 'ave." she jumped down off the van stumbaling forward and almost fallnig over before regaining her banance and righting herself.
"I dunno about the rest of you but i really wanna know what the hell is gonig on here." Gwynne looked about again and then slipped her glasses off cleaning te lenses on the front of her vest before sliding them back up the bridge of her nose. "What now indeed...."

"I.. I think I'm going to be sick..." Avery whispered, though she doubted anyone heard her. Not that it mattered, she had said it more for herself than anyone else. Her thin limbs shook, small, but violent shakes. She was trying to remember this place, she was trying to come up with a name, a street, anything, but nothing was happening. It was like someone had stolen not only the town, but the memory of the town, and the town's own name. Avery shuddered, what kind of thing could do that?
Finally, she willed her arms to move, and she crossed them under her chest, her fingernails digging into her skin. It registered with Avery that she could feel it, and that this wasn't a dream. Batting her eyelashes again, she willed the vision away, commanding it with her mind to go back to normal, for everything to be fine, but each time she was dissapointed when her eyes opened again. Her eyes couldn't shift from the scene, her friends around her blurred, nothing existed except her, and the emptiness before her. Thoughts swam in her head, and she felt herself losing balance, stepping backwards to keep herself upright. This isn't happening, this can't be happening...

"Leader, what the hell? Thank you for your undying allegiance, Matt, so now, do your lord and master a favor and jump off the bridge, huh?" He clapped his friend on the back with a wide grin. He turned back to face the group, his expression somber and a bit bemused. He saw Avery and went over and put an arm around her, "And Gwynne," he called, an attempt to lighten the mood as his antics usually did, "didn't anybody ever tell you to be careful what you wish for? How bout you wish for me a billion dollars next?" For a moment, Domonic wondered why he got to be the leader. He seemed to take charge easily and efficiently, providing everyone did as they were told. He always had been the head of what he got involved in, even in times when he didn't want anything less. Well, I guess this is not the time to back down; don't need everyone goin like Ave here...[/i] He gave her a quick hug and a smile before addressing the others again. "Alright, get me a head count, Lieutanant Heart, and make sure everybody's up and out here. Looks like the trip's not over, folks."

Matthew Heart gave a mock salute and went to work, getting off his bike and walking down the line of various vehicles, knocking on the windows. "Out, you lazy blokes! Somethin' is up and you need to hear about it!" He proceeded making as much noise as possible, to gather the confused and disoriented stragglers. They had to be here. After all, Heart was bringing up the rear and had not noticed a car gone astray.

Skye was her name (sorry not previously mentioned by accident), and turned to the group after staring at the empty space once called home. "I wonder if we aren't the only ones." what of other towns? cities? other places she's never heard or known about, hopefully if it happened here it didn't happen anywhere else. Looking back to the group she just wanted to jump inside her truck and drive around like a mad woman, it was quite funny to see a small lady like her in a huge arse SRT 10 truck, though instead she stood beside Matthew and looked around. "Guess this means my new blender is gone too..." srt10ram.com/images/truckfront.jpg

Graham looked at Dom, a mask of incredulity on his face.
How can he make a joke out of this? How can he pretend like this isn't...this isn't insanity? There is something seriously wrong when an entire city disappears off the fucking map and all we can do is joke about it.
But he didn't say a word of this to his friend. For a couple reasons.
It seemed obvious that there was something very wrong here. There was no doubt about that. But that Dom and Matt could take it as a joke...? Graham understood psychology. Hell, that was his major. He was studying the human mind. He knew many of the ins and outs of the way people thought. And he could see how shock was affecting some people. Dom and Matt were taking it with humor. Avery and Skye were taking it with borderline hysteria: fainting, making non-sequitor jokes.... Adam, who he had seen get out of his car, then promptly get back in, staring at nothing, was taking it by ignoring the situation. And Gwynne...well...Gwynne was taking it slightly more like Dom did. They each had their own methods of dealing with the shock of the thing. Which is why Graham didn't say his thoughts out loud.
And how would he approach this thing? This...disappearance? Would he go insane with it? Would he panic? Would he react with humor, fight it off with sarcasm? What was the path of least resistance for him? It didn't take him long to figure it out. He knew himself pretty well by now. After 21 years together, he and his mind could work things out pretty well....
He walked over to Avery and Dom, who was supporting her. He took the girl's hand, and spoke very quietly to her. She had her eyes closed, but he knew she could hear him.
"Just relax, Ave. Things are gonna be ok. We just need some time to think."
He spoke next to Domonic, looking the taller man right in the eyes as he spoke.
"I dunno what to do, dude. But I know this: we need to figure more of this out. My idea is this: send me out to the center of where .... used to be. I'll take my Explorer, and I'll be back in ten minutes. And I'll tell you if I find something, ok? I also say we send at least one person back the way we came, to try and find out if anyone has heard anything. We've got cell phones...they can call us if they find out what's been going on. We need as much information about this as possible, and there is no doubt that this is gonna be a little crazy. Those are my thoughts. Take 'em or leave 'em."
That would be how Graham handled it. With logic, and foresight. They would need as much info as they could possibly gather to make intelligent decisions. Maybe it was just a trick of the eye, maybe their town really was still there... Or maybe there was something left of it. In either case, they needed to gather information.

Gwynne frowned as she heared Graham's idea then added. "I'll go with you this is too freaky to be normal it would be a bad idea for any of us to go anywhere alone right now and ave, i sugges you go lay down before you collpase you're trembling like a leaf." she tugged ta her plait again bangles still clicking together as she trotted over ot Grahams explorer and jumped into the passenger seat ready to be taken out ot where home used to be. She wanted a closer look, to asure herself she wasn't just seeing things... or in this case seeing nothing.

Great idea, guys," Domonic called after them, "Skip out on the plan and go into the void! Real smart! Why didn't I think of that? While we're at it, why don't we drop the van off the edge and put Skye's truck on top of it with Matt's bike in the back so you can cross to the otherside over them before you vanish just like everything else? Sound like a good idea, brudda," he scowled, calling out the end to Matthew. "We need a plan of attack before we do a damn thing, and I, for one, ain't lettin anybody skip out on that!"
